The principal focus of the Finance Department staff is to render professional and courteous service to the citizens and businesses of Morgantown. As the Finance Department is often the primary contact a resident or business taxpayer has with City personnel, the staff strives to make it a positive experience, while ensuring that all aspects of the City's financial administration are performed in an efficient and equitable manner.
The Finance Department is also an integral component of the administrative structure of the City of Morgantown, rendering services in a staff capacity to the other City administrative and operating departments.

The City of Morgantown 2019-2024 Capital Improvement Plan is a long-range planning document that is approved by city council. It includes planned capital improvement projects for the next five years broken down by departments.
New City Fire Fee Bill
On July 12, 2019, the City of Morgantown will be switching over to a new fire fee bill. The Finance Department recently replaced an outdated system with a new system. This system update required an update to the billing statement, which allows the Finance Department to prepare the bills in house. All fees are still the same.
Monthly Financial Reports
The City of Morgantown has partnered with ClearGov to launch its Transparency Center. This online tool allows citizens to view city finances and projects in an easy to understand format.
