[ARCHIVED] Suspect Arrested for Malicious Wounding

On Tuesday Dec. 11, 2018, officers of the Morgantown Police Department, while investigating an unrelated event, encountered Chancellor CHRISTOPHER, 42 years of age, of Fairmont, in the area of Overdale Street. CHRISTOPHER was taken into custody without incident for outstanding warrants for malicious wounding and strangulation for an incident that occurred on Sept. 26, 2018.

On Sept. 26, 2018, officers responded to a report of a domestic violence incident on the 400 block of Grove Street. Officers arrived on scene and found that the victim was strangled and beaten with a baseball bat and mop handle about the head and body. The victim was strangled to unconsciousness and required medical attention for injuries she sustained in the assault. 

Officer continued the investigation and processed the scene of the attack and identified the suspect as CHRISTOPHER. Officers then obtained warrants for CHRISTOPHER.

CHRISTOPHER is currently being held pending trial and this case is closed.
