[ARCHIVED] Suspects Arrest During Burglary

At approximately 11:55 p.m. on December 24, 2018, officers of the Morgantown Police Department responded to a reported Burglary in progress in the 500 block of McLane Avenue.  As officers approached the area, they heard glass breaking and a woman scream. Officers then confronted two men wearing dark clothing with hoods pulled over their heads, who were leaving the rear of the residence where the scream came from.

Officers confronted the suspects who initially ignored the commands of officers and began to leave the area. They then stopped and dropped gloves and other items to the ground. The suspects were detained while other officers entered the residence to check on the occupants.

Officers found the victim of the burglary locked in a room in the residence. A protective sweep was conducted by the officers to insure there were no other suspects inside the residence. 

Officers recovered jewelry from the suspects at the time of the arrests.

Paul SHAFFER, 28 years of age of Masontown was charged with burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary. SHAFFER is being held in the North Central Regional Jail.

Joshua CRAWFORD, 34 years of age of Morgantown was charged with burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary.  CRAWFORD is being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
