[ARCHIVED] Deadline Approaching to Apply for Entry-Level Police Officer with the Morgantown Police Department

Time is running out to apply for the position of entry-level police officer with the Morgantown Police Department. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1.

Potential candidates can obtain applications from the Morgantown City Clerk’s office, located at 389 Spruce Street, or on the city website at morgantownwv.gov/jobs. An application fee of $25 is due upon submission.

Applicants must be of 18 years of age and not more and 40 years of age at the time of submitting the application. Applicants must have the enclosed Medical Release Form completed by a physician. Other qualifications include holding a high school diploma or GED and being a U.S. citizen for three years. Prospective candidates must have a valid driver’s license, or government issued identification. Veterans will be given preference points under West Virginia Code §6-13-1.

Candidates that have submitted a completed application will take the Written Civil Service Examination at 9 a.m. on Nov. 16 at the WVU Coliseum. Applicants must bring completed Medical Release Form to be admitted into the written test. Candidates who pass the written exam will be immediately directed to the physical agility test. Information on preparing for the physical agility test can be found on the Morgantown Police Department webpage at morgantownwv.gov/police.

Once hired, it is required that applicants establish and maintain a permanent residence within a 15-nautical air mile radius of 300 Spruce Street within 90 days of notification of permanent status.
