[ARCHIVED] Suspects in Custody Following Early Morning Shooting

News Release Logo v2

At approximately 1:14 a.m. on Feb. 29, 2020, officers of the Morgantown Police Department responded to a report that someone had fired shots inside of an apartment on College Avenue. The caller reported that an individual discharged a shotgun inside of his apartment.

Officers arrived on scene to find Edward KOLLEH and Ethan HORSEMAN, residents of the apartment who reported that two males attempted to steal their marijuana and a gunfight occurred inside the apartment. Officers began the initial investigation and while on scene, at approximately 1:30 a.m., received a report of a shooting victim arriving at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

The officers continued the investigation and found that the gunshot victim and another individual were invited to the apartment for the purpose of purchasing marijuana. KOLLEH and HORSEMAN pre-planned robbing them and staged them by having them sit with their back to a closet where KOLLEH was hiding, armed with a shotgun. HORSEMAN provided a code word during the transaction and KOLLEH came out of the closet armed with the shotgun demanding the victims to empty their pockets while HORSEMAN produced a handgun and pointed it at the victims. The four individuals got into a physical altercation causing the handgun to discharge. Multiple shots were fired inside and outside of the apartment and the two victims of the robbery fled the scene. During this time, the victim found that he was shot in the hip and went to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment.

As a result of the investigation, Edward KOLLEH, 29 years of age was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Robbery and Robbery. Ethan HORSEMAN, 20 years of age was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Robbery and Unlawful Wounding. Both are pending arraignment.
