New Art at the Airport Exhibit Highlights Local Artists
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Art at the Airport program is changing artwork on Wednesday, April 27 to feature about twenty different artists with the theme of “Artists Choice”. The public is invited to attend the reception for the new exhibit, which begins at 5:30 p.m.
More than 60 pieces of artwork will be on display at the Morgantown Municipal Airport, making this the largest show to date. The art is available for purchase and can be found throughout the main terminal including the gate and baggage claim areas. This is the third exhibit at the airport since the program began in July 2021.
The Morgantown Art Association coordinates the selection of artists and rotation of the exhibits throughout the year. Artists who would like to be included in any future exhibits can complete the membership form for the Art Association and pay the dues, which are $35 per year.
Sandy Smith, one of the programs artists and a member of the Morgantown Art Association has displayed some of her artwork in previous shows. One of her paintings, which was previously displayed at the airport, has since been purchased and now resides in a private residence in California.
“I am proud to know that many visitors as well as local residents have been able to view, enjoy and even purchase our art,” said Smith. “Hopefully we will have even more visitors and residents experience the exhibits in the future, the variety and talent are truly remarkable. I invite everyone to come out and see the art for themselves.”
At this time, masks are no longer required while inside the airport. Light refreshments will be served at the reception.
