The Monongalia County Clerk maintains the registration of all voters in the City of Morgantown and Monongalia County as outlined under State Code. Citizens residing within Morgantown’s city limits must follow the same registration process for voting in Municipal Elections as with state and federal elections conducted by the county.
Residents of Monongalia County can register to vote at the Monongalia County Clerk’s office located at 243 High Street, Morgantown, WV 26505. The County Clerk’s office telephone number is 304-291-7230. Residents may also register to vote online by clicking the link below.

If you’re thinking of running for city council, you should first pick up a 2021 City Election Candidate Packet from the Morgantown City Clerk’s office. The Candidate Packets are available beginning Jan. 4, 2021 and tell you everything you need to know about running for office.
To run for city council, a nominating petition (found in the candidate packet) must be signed by 75 registered voters of the ward in which you reside. It is recommended that you try to obtain more than the required 75 signatures due to possible duplicate signatures. Once the signatures have been collected, the nominating form should be submitted to the Morgantown City Clerk’s office along with a Certificate of Announcement no later than Feb. 8, 2021.
