City Council has passed two ordinances that regulate vending trucks and carts in the downtown area. These resources are to help vendors, businesses, residents, and visitors understand these ordinances and how to easily register your truck or cart for business in the downtown area.
Vendors are divided into two categories: Vending Trucks and Vending Carts. Both are required to operate with a City of Morgantown Business License, even if their headquarters are outside City Limits.
A permit is not needed if you are selling on private property with the permission of the landowner.
If you have questions about the application process, or about selling food downtown from a mobile cart or truck between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., please contact the Finance Department at 304-284-7418.
Parking permits will be given on a weekly basis, but a vendor can schedule as many weeks or days in a week that he/she would like. The cost is $14 per night, and $13 per night if they are in the same space 3 consecutive evenings. Vendors can choose to be there any evening of the week, and are more than welcome to take a look at local events and schedule their permits as far into the future as they would like.
Vendor A wants to be in Spot 3 on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday for three weeks.
$14 + $13 + $13 + $13 = $53 for that week
$53 x 3 = $159
Obtain a Parking Permit for Vending from the Morgantown Parking Authority (MPA).
