City and Community Members Collaborate to Promote St. Patrick’s Day Safety

Thousands of people in the Greater Morgantown Area will be out on the town for St. Patrick’s Day on Friday, March 17. A group of volunteers is working through the Safe Communities Initiative to help promote responsible celebrating.

The Shamrock Safety Squad is made up of approximately 20 volunteers from the Mon County Prevention Coalition, West Virginia University Collegiate Recovery Program, and the Safe Communities Initiative. The Squad will be in Downtown Morgantown on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Shamrock Safety Squad will be handing out bottles of water and POWERADE©, alcohol and substance abuse prevention literature, and glow in the dark bracelets all provided by 1-844-HELP WV.

The Morgantown Police and Fire Departments will be in full force on foot and in their vehicles during the entire weekend. Read more…
