There’s a reason they call West Virginia “Almost Heaven.” Other than its blue ridge mountains and country roads, the different communities of people in this state have something special about them, especially the one here in Morgantown. Not only is it home to 30,000 college students from all over the world, there are many families who have grown up in this wild and wonderful state, experiencing the adventure Morgantown has to offer.



Awesome Entertainment

Check out the summer concert series at Ruby Amphitheater, located right on the Monongahela River. Enjoy a variety of food vendors, food trucks, face painting, live music and more. If you prefer the downtown scene, there are multiple restaurants and grills that also offer live music regularly, as well as other live music venues such as 123 Pleasant Street and the Metropolitan Theater, which was named Best Performing Arts Venue in Morgantown. 



Beautiful Scenery

Go for a walk on Morgantown’s famous rail trail that runs along the Monongahela River. From wood-fired flatbread pizza to outstanding Italian food, there are great restaurants along the trail, some right on the waterfront with a view. As you walk the trail you’ll see there are also playgrounds, benches, outdoor workout equipment, magnificent artwork, and cherry blossom trees that you won’t want to miss. If your goal is to obtain the full experience of Morgantown’s wildlife, there are hidden gems around the town, such as White Park, with a glistening waterfall. 



Lively Downtown

Take full advantage of High Street, located right in downtown Morgantown. There are over a dozen restaurants, fun shops, and a few hotels, all within walking distance from each other. There is never a dull moment on High Street. From parades to farmer's markets, food vendors, and more, there is always something new and exciting to do. 



Delicious Food

Morgantown has a wide range of tasty food to offer, with restaurants known for their wings, burgers, sandwiches, pizza and more. If you’re looking for a satisfying meal, you’ll be sure to find one. Many include outdoor seating, some with a view of the river and others with live music and a show. West Virginia’s oldest brewery, Morgantown Brewing Company, is also located here in Morgantown and won the “best burger” award.
