Morgantown Fire Department Responds to Utility Pole Fire

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - On January 3, Morgantown Fire Department's engine 3 responded to a utility pole fire at the intersection of University Ave. and Laurel St.

A Mon Power meter reader notified Mecca 911 of a utility pole on fire at the intersection. When engine 3 arrived at the scene, the pole was nearly burnt in two.

Concerned that the pole could break and fall, the roadways were temporarily closed while the damages were addressed.

Shortly after the fire was extinguished, Mon Power line crews took steps to secure the issue.
