City of Morgantown to Host Community Clean-Up Event
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - In honor of Spring, the City of Morgantown is hosting a Love Where You Live and Work Community Clean-Up event in partnership with Main Street Morgantown and the Mon River Revitalization Task Force on April 13, 2023. The cleanup will occur from 1 PM to 4 PM at two city locations.
Community members and businesses are encouraged to meet at the Mountaineer Heritage Park location (Don Knotts Blvd, Morgantown, WV 26501) to assist in cleaning the riverfront and rail trail.
Free parking is available at the Mon River Trail parking lot which is located beside the Auto Max.
City employees are to meet at 430 Spruce St. and will be focusing on the downtown area.
All volunteers will be focusing on litter cleanup, beautification efforts, and more in the areas with the most need. The City of Morgantown will be providing gloves, bags, and other supplies for those who need them. No registration is required to participate.
“We love working for the City of Morgantown and just want to give back to our community in a different way than we do in our normal roles. We would encourage our residents, community and neighborhood leaders, and businesses to join us at one of these locations. If you can’t join us, show your own property or neighborhood some extra love. Together, we can make a difference,” said Assistant City Manager, Emily Muzzarelli.
In the event of poor weather, the event will be postponed or canceled. Members of the community will be notified via the City of Morgantown’s social media accounts.
“Spring is the chance for revitalization within our community. Throughout this month the city and other organizations will be hosting a variety of recycling and clean-up events for city residents to participate in,” said Special Projects Coordinator Vanessa Reaves. Reaves spearheads many of the ongoing sustainability projects occurring throughout the city.
