City of Morgantown to Host Electronic Recycling Event in August


MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The City of Morgantown is hosting an electronic recycling event at the Morgantown City Garage from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 5.


The Monongalia County Commission, Monongalia County Solid Waste Authority, and West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection partnered with the City of Morgantown to coordinate the event.


The event will be open to all residents of Monongalia County. Certificates of destruction can be mailed to participants upon request. A limit of 1 television per vehicle will be enforced.


Items accepted for recycling include: computers, audio/stereo equipment, cables/wires, CD or DVD drives, cell phones, circuit boards, DVD players, ferrous & non-ferrous metals, integrated circuits, ink cartridges (not leaking), keyboards & mice, LCD monitors, litho film, video cameras, gaming consoles, wireless devices, microwaves, network equipment, power supplies, printers/fax/copy machines, RAM & other computer components, rechargeable batteries (not leaking), servers, speakers (no wooden speakers), telephones, toner cartridges (not leaking), televisions, and UPS battery backup systems.


Items NOT accepted for recycling include: items containing mercury (thermostats, level switches, etc.), paint, ballasts with PCB's, light bulbs, food waste, toxic waste, liquids, refrigerators (no food waste), air conditioning units, CRT televisions, and wooden or ceramic items.


The event will occur at the same time as the Morgantown Utility Board's Household Hazardous Waste event.
