Shelter Opportunities in Morgantown To Be Expanded
Morgantown, W.Va. – Morgantown Community Resources, Inc. (MCR) recently informed the City of Morgantown that Catholic Charities West Virginia (CCWV) signed an agreement with their organization that will allow them to assume operations of the second-floor shelter space at Hazel’s House of Hope.
Also, a new shelter director has been appointed by CCWV.
Speaking on behalf of MCR’s Board of Directors, MCR Board Member Ron Justice expressed appreciation for Morgantown City Council’s support.
“We very much desire to work collaboratively in any way possible in order to continue to facilitate services and new ideas that will improve our community,” said Justice.
MCR expects the shelter to be open mid-September and looks forward to the opportunities this initiative will create in our community.
Morgantown City Manager, Kim Haws, is also pleased to see this established partnership.
“This is another step forward in the process of expanding our local shelter opportunities,” said Haws. “The City of Morgantown is eager to work with everyone and explore ideas that will ultimately provide safer housing options to citizens who are unsheltered.”
More information will be provided as it becomes available.
