New MGW Flights to Washington, D.C. and Chicago Enhance Travel Options
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — United Express flights, operated by SkyWest Airlines, connecting Morgantown to Washington, D.C. and Chicago, are scheduled to launch this month from Morgantown Municipal Airport (MGW). Starting December 13, 2024, this new jet service will expand travel options for local and out-of-state travelers, government employees, Camp Dawson personnel and visitors, as well as anyone looking to connect to flights across the globe.
With 14 nonstop round trips per week, MGW’s new flight schedule includes seven weekly flights to both Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD). As reported in the past few weeks, passengers will be able to enjoy travelling in the 50-seat CRJ200 jet aircraft, designed for performance and passenger satisfaction.
The direct flights will provide an added resource for government personnel and Camp Dawson members needing access to major hubs, while also catering to travelers seeking connections to destinations worldwide.
“The Morgantown Municipal Airport is very excited with offering direct flights to Chicago O’Hare and Washington Dulles Airports on United Express, operated by SkyWest Airlines,” said Jonathan Vrabel, Airport Director at Morgantown Municipal Airport. “With daily service to both United Airlines hubs, North Central West Virginians can get to anywhere in the country and in the world. With free parking and a very short drive, flying out of Morgantown will most of the time be cheaper than flying out of Pittsburgh.”
In addition to the new flight offerings, MGW is committed to enhancing the airport experience with multiple facility improvements. Travelers can expect free parking, shorter TSA lines, expanded seating areas, as well as vehicle detailing services and rental car services, both offered at an additional cost while they are traveling.
“The Morgantown Municipal Airport is undergoing several upgrades to make flying more enjoyable,” Vrabel added. “Recent upgrades are in the works for a new airline ticket counter and improved checked baggage experience. In addition, guests can expect an expanded gate area offering more seating for customers awaiting to depart, new carpeting in the gate area and around the airline ticket counter, and new windows in the ticket counter and checkpoint area to be installed shortly. These upgrades will make the travel experience more comfortable and provide for a simple and easy travel experience.”
To celebrate the arrival of these new United Express flights, MGW will host a closed welcome event on December 17, 2024, with local officials and community partners in attendance. This event will mark the significance of this new service and its benefits to the community.
As recently reported by ArkStar, MGW’s media campaign and marketing consultant, travelers can utilize the new nonstop United flights from Morgantown beginning December 13, 2024.
ArkStar also shared that fares start as low as $190 roundtrip and have been available as of October 21, 2024, for travel in December 2024 or January 2025, based on a seven-day round trip. Fares are subject to change at any time.
