City of Morgantown Names New Deputy City Clerk


MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The City of Morgantown is pleased to announce that Nicole Lauffer has been selected to serve as the new Deputy City Clerk. Lauffer started in the position yesterday, April 14, 2025.

“I very much appreciate the opportunity being afforded to me to serve the City of Morgantown as its next Deputy City Clerk," said Lauffer. "I look forward to working with the City's leadership team, public officials and community stakeholders to continue providing outstanding support to City Council and the citizens of Morgantown."

Lauffer, who holds a dual master's degree in Public Administration and Spanish, was selected out of a pool of 18 candidates. Since 2023, she has worked as the Special Projects Coordinator for the City of Morgantown. During her time in that role, Lauffer worked with local officials to develop new programs and initiatives such as a new-and improved Morgantown Citizens Academy, the 2024 Great Race, the Morgantown Police Department's open houses, and more. 


Prior to her tenure with the City of Morgantown, Lauffer worked as the International Agreements Coordinator & Grants Liaison for the West Virginia University Office of Global Affairs.


“We are thrilled to have Nikki as our Deputy City Clerk,” said Morgantown City Clerk Christine Wade. “This exciting addition to the team marks a significant step forward for our City. She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise, which will greatly benefit our city's initiatives.”
