Downtown Morgantown Announces Spring Clean Up Day
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The City of Morgantown invites volunteers and organizations to participate in the Downtown Morgantown Spring Clean Up Day on Friday, May 31, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Participants will meet at the Historic Depot at Hazel Ruby McQuain Park before cleaning up the area from Exit 1 into downtown.
A brief safety orientation will kick off the day, and all necessary safety gear, including vests, gloves, and equipment, will be provided by the City of Morgantown's new tool lending library, called the Morgantown Tool Outreach Toolbox (MO.T.O). This free tool lending service will launch later this year and will be available to local organizations and residents of the City of Morgantown. Participants should dress appropriately in long sleeves, long pants, wear sturdy shoes, and bring sunscreen and water.
Refreshments will be offered, while supplies last, to volunteers following the clean-up efforts. The event will take place rain or shine.
The city’s Community Development Services Coordinator Caitlyn Lewis sees this community event as a rewarding opportunity to beautify Morgantown and foster community spirit.
"We would like to offer a special thanks to City Council, as well as city staff and leadership, local businesses, and organizations for their support in organizing this important event,” Lewis said. “With this amazing group of community leaders and volunteers, we hope to create meaningful impact that can be seen and valued by everyone.”
Volunteers can sign up in person or by emailing Caitlyn Lewis at clewis@morgantownwv.gov.
