Morgantown Presents the Fourth of July Celebration at Ruby Amphitheater
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The City of Morgantown will be hosting its annual free 4th of July Celebration at the Ruby Amphitheater, located at 185 Garrett Street Morgantown, WV on Friday, July 4th. The amphitheater, which is located at Hazel Ruby McQuain Park will open to the public at 5:00 p.m. with festivities beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The evening will feature live music, a variety of food and beverage vendors, free face painting for children by Ms. Pockets, and an inflatable fun zone courtesy of Cartoon Headquarters.
“We are excited to have another great 4th of July celebration planned this year,” said Vincent Kitch, Director of Arts and Cultural Development. “People come from across the region to Morgantown for a day of patriotic unity, celebration, and to enjoy our awesome fireworks display too.”
This year's performance will feature the Jazz Ambassadors along with the commercial vocalists of the United States Army Field Band. Also known as America's Big Band, the Jazz Ambassadors are the premier touring jazz orchestra of the United States Army. Formed in 1969, this 19-piece ensemble has received critical acclaim throughout the United States and abroad.
Their concerts include classic big band standards, instrumental and vocal solo features, patriotic favorites, contemporary jazz works, and original arrangements and compositions by past and present members of the Jazz Ambassadors.
The Jazz Ambassadors have performed in all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Japan, India, and Europe, and in joint concerts with the Boston Pops, National Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Seattle Symphony, and at Carnegie Hall with Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops.
The fireworks show, supplied by Little Big Shots, will be held at approximately 9:45 p.m. immediately following the concert. Attendees should be prepared for an influx of traffic in the downtown area due to the evening’s events.
Visitors are recommended to explore the Morgantown Parking Authority website for parking options downtown. Public parking is available at Wharf Street Parking, Pleasant & Chestnut Street Parking, University Avenue & Chestnut Street, and Spruce Street Parking garages.
There are a limited number of handicap-accessible parking spaces available at the park that can be utilized on a first come first served basis. When accessible spots run out, individuals with mobility challenges can be dropped off at the Historic Depot before parking your vehicle in one of the nearby garages, or other locations.
“Visitors should look forward to a day filled with good food, music, and celebrations with friends and family. Thank you to all of our sponsors that have worked with us to make this event and the Ruby Summer Concerts possible,” said Kitch.
Additional park information, parking suggestions, park rules and guidelines and more can be found on the Ruby Amphitheater website at rubyampwv.com.
