City of Morgantown Announces Completion of First Street and Campus Drive Intersection Realignment

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The City of Morgantown is pleased to announce the completion of the realigned intersection at First Street and Campus Drive. The newly improved four-way intersection is set to open to traffic tomorrow, July 31, 2025, with fully operational traffic signals.

The project, designed by Stantec Consulting Services and constructed by Parrotta Paving, enhances traffic flow and safety in the area. The realignment follows previous repairs on Campus Drive conducted by the West Virginia Division of Highways (DOH) and represents a collaborative effort to improve infrastructure in the city.

Meagan Deeley, Deputy Director of Public Works and Engineering for the City of Morgantown, shared that alongside the intersection upgrades, Hall Street received enhancements including a new trail parking area, pedestrian crossings, and new sidewalks, all of which improve access to the existing trailhead located at 3rd Street. Deeley believes these improvements will help increase traffic flow and make it more convenient for drivers exiting Reynolds Hall.

“We’re excited to see this project come to completion,” said Deeley. “It’s a great example of how thoughtful infrastructure planning can make a real difference for residents, students, and visitors alike. We would like to thank our partners and WVU for helping us coordinate parking solutions throughout the construction process as well.”
