City of Morgantown Tree Board to Hold Arbor Day Working Meeting
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - In place of its regular October meeting, the Morgantown Tree Board will host a working meeting in celebration of Arbor Day on Saturday, October 11, 2025, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Farmers Market Pavilion on Spruce Street.
The event will feature an informational table, a display of trees to be planted, and a reading of the Arbor Day proclamation by Mayor Danielle Trumble.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., volunteers and board members will proceed to the 200 block of South Walnut Street in the South Park neighborhood to plant six container trees, including:
1 Red Sunset Maple
2 Spring Grove Dogwoods
3 Flamethrower Redbuds
Ethan Legg, the City Arborist for Morgantown, emphasized the importance of the event.
“Trees provide many essential ecosystem services. They minimize storm water runoff, sequester carbon, create habitat and food sources for native wildlife, cool our streets, and help beautify our city. Everyone is welcome to join us in celebrating our urban landscape.”
Due to limited parking on the dead-end portion of South Walnut Street above Cobun Avenue, attendees are encouraged to walk or carpool if possible.
The public is invited to participate in this community effort to enhance Morgantown’s urban landscape and celebrate the importance of trees.
