Morgantown Mayor Danielle Trumble Appointed Chair of the National League of Cities Human Development Committee

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Danielle Trumble, Mayor of Morgantown, WV, has been appointed to Chair of the National League of Cities (NLC) 2026 Human Development Federal Advocacy Committee. 

Mayor Trumble was elected to a one-year term and will provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on workforce development, education, early childhood, public health care, mental health parity, immigration reform, homelessness, and more. The appointment was announced by NLC President Kevin Kramer, Councilmember of Louisville, Kentucky.

“I am passionate about the charges of the Human Development Federal Advocacy Committee and am proud of our work over the last few years. As Chair, I look forward to elevating the voice of both Morgantown and the State of West Virginia as we advocate for human-centered solutions to the needs of communities nationwide. I am grateful to President Kramer and NLC leadership for this opportunity,” said Mayor Trumble.

As Chair of the committee, Mayor Trumble will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocating on behalf of America’s cities, towns and villages before Congress, with the administration and at home in Morgantown, WV.

“The National League of Cities’ federal advocacy committees are the voice of America’s 19,000 cities, towns and villages to leaders in Washington,” said National League of Cities President Kevin Kramer, Councilmember, Louisville, Kentucky. “I am thrilled to work with Mayor Trumble and look forward to supporting her vision and leadership as she heads the Human Development committee this year, helping to strengthen the local-federal partnership.”

The leadership of this year’s committee will consist of Chair Danielle Trumble, Mayor of Morgantown, West Virginia; Vice Chair Michael O’Connor, Mayor of Frederick, Maryland; and Vice Chair Berdetta Hodge, Councilmember of Tempe, Arizona.
