Morgantown Fire Department to Host Open House for Entry Level Firefighter Applicants
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The Morgantown Fire Department is hosting an Open House for the Entry Level Firefighter Agility Test on Saturday, June 25, starting at 10 a.m., and Saturday, July 16, starting at 1 p.m. at the Northside Fire Station, located at 1000 Van Voorhis Road, Morgantown, WV 26505.

Applications for the Entry-Level Firefighter position are being accepted until July 28. Applications are available online at http://www.morgantownwv.gov, or may be picked up at the City Clerk’s office located at 430 Spruce Street, Morgantown, WV 26505.
The open house event is an opportunity for potential candidates to practice and use all the equipment used in the official agility test. Candidates will have the option of running the full test or practicing individual components of the test.
Completed applications must be returned to the City Clerk’s Office no later than July 28. Mailed applications must bear a postmark no later than July 25. Late applications will not be accepted for this test and will be placed on a mailing-wait list.
The official agility portion of the entry level process will be held on Saturday, July 30, 8 a.m. at the Northside Fire Station, located at 1000 Van Voorhis Road, Morgantown, WV 26505. Those who pass the agility test will move forward with the written examination, and will receive a test booklet, along with a letter officially notifying them of the testing location on Wednesday, August 31, 6 p.m.
Applicants and open house participants are expected to wear long pants, a work-type shirt (sweatpants and sweatshirts or tee-shirts are acceptable) and a work-type shoe that extends above the ankle area to ensure proper ankle support (tennis shoes are acceptable). Participants may also bring their own leather work gloves; however, gloves will be provided for those who do not bring their own. Helmets will also be provided and are required to be worn throughout the entire test.
